Areas of responsibility:
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Advisor/Payroll Analyst has a critical role in maintaining accurate payroll, strengthening Human Resources systems, and supporting and enhancing the employee experience. Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Payroll Administration - Process biweekly payroll with the highest level of accuracy and confidentiality. This includes reviewing timecards, wage calculations, and deductions to ensure payroll and benefits related practices are applied consistently across the organization and are in alignment with the business needs and applicable legislation and collective agreements. You will Investigate and resolve payroll questions or issues with professionalism and integrity.
• Data and Reporting - Maintaining meticulous payroll records and documentation. This includes preparing a variety of reports to support operational excellence and assisting with financial audits ensuring transparent and compliant process.
• Team Member Support and Service- You will engage with all staff to respond to inquiries and provide support and recommendations regarding issues related to payroll and benefits. You will assist with administering Team Member programs, paid and unpaid leaves and return to work processes. This includes supporting Health and Safety initiatives including WCB claims and related payroll co-ordination, as well as partnering with Finance on payroll-related reporting and reconciliations.
Who you are:
You are pursuing a career in Human Resources, Finance, or Administration and bring:
• 2+ years of payroll or HRIS experience, ideally in a retail or multi-site environment.
• Strong proficiency in payroll systems such as Oracle, ADP, Dayforce, Paylocity, or similar platforms.
• A solid understanding of wage and hour laws, payroll regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with benefits administration and related processes.
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze and interpret data effectively.
• Post-secondary education in accounting, business, or human resources, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Payroll certifications (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP, CPP, FPC), are considered an asset.
• You have strong attention to detail as well as organizational and interpersonal skills.
• You believe in building relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter most, and you recognize the value that different perspectives bring to meet shared objectives.
